I was initially quite nervous about attending a coaching/mentoring session, but from the moment I met Mair, I felt there was in instant rapport between us. Mair is a fabulous ‘people person’ and I was able to open up and trust her immediately. I believe that for coaching to be a success, this is incredibly important. 

There were two key things that my COO wanted me to achieve from our sessions. I had stepped up into a more strategically aligned role where there was a need for me to show more resilience and confidence which daunted me. We talked through these issues head on. It was like waving a magic wand. By piecing together my past, remembering those positive experiences, Mair was able to remove those self-limiting beliefs and this created a great foundation for us to work from.

The ease and connection I felt in my first session with Mair made it easy to relax and to be myself. I felt able to discuss the things I was finding difficult freely, especially given that Mair had the additional complexity of dealing with cognitive function damage caused by my recent brain injury. 

Mair's interpersonal skills are second to none; high emotional intelligence, strong questioning and investigatory skills, active listening and reflecting. I didn't feel at any point that Mair saw herself as an expert, having all the answers and being able to fix my problems, rather she supported my understanding and learning and helped guide me towards my own solutions. 

At the end of six sessions, my confidence was restored despite the effects of my injury, and I was able to see things from an alternative lens. I now take ownership and implement proactive mechanisms to achieve my objectives.
